You know, I am rewatching random hannigram moments and I've never given enough attention to this gem:
It's officially altering my brain chemistry (and not only because I can clearly remember my grandma saying "I told you he was gay") but because of how soft Hannibal is to Will considering that he was 99% going to eat him in the next scene.
He tries to take Will's jacket off to take the bullet out and Will groans in pain and Hannibal's immediate gesture is to hug him. To give him some comfort.
Whatever rage he had in Mizumono when he was extremely driven to hurt Will and see him bleed and suffer and pay for everything, is now gone. He doesn't want to see him in pain.
Which reminds me of two scenes. The first is a discussion in one of the episodes when Hannibal says that butchers love their lambs. Which is important considering that Will symbolizes the lamb in the series. And the second is when Hannibal says "My compassion for you is inconvenient" and I think that somehow means "I don't think I will ever be able to eat you even if you are a rude arrogant bastard, you are MY rude arrogant bastard"
